The Glow: DIY Saffron Skincare Recipes

Some of the most nourishing skincare face oil/serum can be made right in your own home. With just a handful of thoughtfully chosen ingredients and a little patience, Saffron slowly infuses its natural goodness into oils and botanical blends, creating skincare that's simple but deeply rewarding.

These DIY recipes are easy to make at home and are meant to help you create a mindful skincare routine — for a few peaceful minutes dedicated to yourself.

Saffron Face Oil

Ingredients

  • 10–15 DORI Kashmiri Mongra saffron strands
  • 30 ml sweet almond oil (or jojoba oil for oily skin)
  • 5 ml rosehip oil (optional but recommended)

How to Make

  1. Sterilize a small glass bottle with hot water and let it dry completely.
  2. Add the saffron strands to the bottle.
  3. Pour in the almond oil and rosehip oil.
  4. Close the bottle tightly.
  5. Store it in a cool, dark place for 7–14 days.
  6. Shake the bottle gently once every day.
  7. As the saffron slowly infuses, the oil develops a warm golden hue.
  8. Leave the saffron strands inside for continued infusion, or strain them if preferred.

How to Use

  1. Clean your face gently with water.
  2. While your skin is still slightly damp, apply 2–3 drops.
  3. Massage gently upward for about one minute.
  4. Leave overnight.
  5. Use 3–5 nights a week.

Saffron Hydrating Serum

Ingredients

  • 10–15 DORI Kashmiri Mongra saffron strands
  • 15 ml pure rose water
  • 10 ml pure aloe vera gel
  • 3 ml vegetable glycerin (optional but helps retain moisture)

How to Make

  1. Soak the saffron strands in the rose water overnight (8–12 hours).
  2. The rose water will develop a light golden colour.
  3. Remove the strands if desired.
  4. Mix the infused rose water with aloe vera gel.
  5. Add glycerin.
  6. Stir until smooth.
  7. Transfer to a sterilized pump bottle.
  8. Store in the refrigerator.

Shelf Life

Because this contains water and aloe vera, it should be used within 7–10 days if made without a preservative. Make small batches to keep it fresh.

How to Use

  1. Apply to clean skin after washing.
  2. Use 2–3 drops or one pump.
  3. Follow with a moisturizer or facial oil.
  4. Suitable for morning and night.
